The Nevada Chapter Awards Program offers individual awards of merit at the state level for the Harry S. Swearingen Award for Outstanding Member of the Year, the Crystal Briscoe "Spitfire" Award for Outstanding Young Professional Member of the Year, and the Robert Broadbent Distinguished Service Award that parallel the National Awards Program. The Chapter also awards Project of the Year recognition at the Spring and Fall Conference.
Individual Awards of Merit
2021 Harry S. Swearingen Award for Outstanding Member of the Year: Jeremy Leavitt
This award recognizes outstanding individual achievement and excellence in service to APWA through chapter activity and achievement in support of APWA's strategic plan, goals and objectives, as well as outstanding service to APWA as a public or private sector member at the chapter level.
2021 Crystal Briscoe "Spitfire" Award for Outstanding Young Professional Member of the Year: Suzy Young
This award recognizes outstanding individual achievement and excellence in service to APWA by a Young Professional (YP) under the age of 35 through chapter activity and achievement in support of APWA’s strategic plan, goals and objectives, as well as outstanding service to APWA as a public or private sector member of the Nevada chapter.
2021 Robert Broadbent Distinguished Service Award: Not awarded in 2021
This award recognizes public works leaders who are also leaders in their community and encourages public works professionals to become active leaders. This award encourages public trust in public works professionals by recognizing outstanding community leadership.
National Awards
The National APWA Awards Program offers awards in the categories of Professional, Members, Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the year, Public Works Project of the Year and the Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence (PACE). Many of these awards are made only at the national level in recognition of outstanding individual achievement. In recognition of those who volunteer their time to APWA chapters to inspire innovative ideas and provide subject matter expertise, Lowell Patton has been offered the opportunity to serve on the Certified Public Infrastructure Inspextor (CPII) Certification Council for the next 2 years.
